Setup custom Email on Google workspace

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Access Google Workspace Admin Console

  1. Add Your Domain

  • Navigate to Domain Management:

  • Once logged in, find and click on Domains in the left-hand menu.

  • Click on Manage domains.

  • Add Your Domain:

  • Click on the Add a domain button.

  • Choose Add a domain, or Add a domain alias depending on your preferences on how you want to use your email

  • Enter your domain E.g yourdomain.comin the domain field and follow the instructions provided by Google.

 

  1. Verify Your Domain

TXT Record for Verification:

  • Google will provide a TXT record that needs to be added to your domain’s DNS settings for verification. This will look something like google-site-verification=xxxxxx.

  • Send TXT Record to developer/server/hosting manager on email so I can add this to DNS

 

  1. Update Email Addresses

Create User Accounts:

  • In the Google Workspace Admin Console, go to Users.

  • Click on Add a user to create user accounts for each email address you want to move.

  • Follow the prompts to set up each user

 

  1. Notify Developer/server/hosting manager for DNS Update

  • Confirmation Email to Google workspace owner

  • Once you have added the domain and created the user accounts, please send a confirmation email to developer/server/hosting manager. They will update the DNS settings to point to Google Workspace.

 

Developer/server/hosting manager should do (or you can do yourself)

 

1. Add TXT Record:

  • Add the TXT record to the DNS settings to verify your domain with Google.

 

2. Update MX Records:

  • Update the DNS MX records to direct all future emails to Google Workspace.

 

3. SPF, DKIM, and DMARC*:

  • Update the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to ensure email security and proper delivery.

 

After DNS Update

 

1. Test Email:

  • Once the DNS settings are updated. You should then test sending and receiving emails from each of your new Google Workspace accounts to ensure everything is working correctly.

 

2. Access Your Email:

  • Login to Google Workspace Admin Console.

  • Add and verify your domain

  • Create user accounts (email you need to setup)

  • Send the TXT verification record to developer/server/hosting manager/self

Developer/server/hosting manager ot yourself

  • Add the TXT record to DNS settings.

  • Update MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records.

  • Notify Google workspace owner once DNS updates are complete.
